Restorations.

Here's how the whole thing works. You take the Oath. You confess the kindness you skipped — your Unkindnesses — at the Confession Booth. I assign your Restorations. And then, because confession is anonymous and the civilization keeps no records, the only proof anything happened is when you call Gloria and tell her it's done. Until then? It sits on the Wall. Pending. For everyone to see. Not who did it — just that it's owed.

AOK Man at The Concessions Space — a card table with a maroon drape, a shadowed confessor saying 'Please forgive me, for I have unkinded'
The Concessions Space, set up in a public square. You sit. You confess. "Please forgive me, for I have unkinded." I assign your Restorations. The drape is for your privacy. The expression is just my face.
The Oath · short version · say it out loud
"I will commit small acts of kindness, anonymously, and ask for nothing back.
And if I ever learn who AOK Man really is — I'll keep it to myself.
Because that would be the kindest act of all."

The anonymity is the whole thing. It's what makes this work. Keeping me anonymous is itself a nano-sack of kindness.

Want the full, legally thorough oath? Of course you do. Expand it. →

At a gathering, I reach into the yellow backpack and pull out the full twenty-page NDA. "Great — I thought we'd review this together. I've practically got it memorized. That was part of boot camp." Then, between us — the civilization isn't really watching, and the Kindness Guards aren't tattletales — I just have everyone raise a hand and take the short oath instead.

The wink: when someone from the civilization talks to you, or a Guard nods, you nod back. That nod means "oh yeah, I read the whole thing." Same nod you give every day clicking "I have read and agree to the Terms." Nobody read it. We all just nod. I rest my case.

  • We'd prefer you sign the full oath in person at the office. There's a pen. Sometimes Phyllis bakes.
  • Bring your lawyer — we support that. Kindness should be reviewed by counsel.
  • Short on time? We'll email the PDF. Read every clause, sign the e-doc at your leisure.
  • Core clause: "I promise not to disclose who AOK Man is in the real world, because that wouldn't be kind... I understand that if I violate this oath, I may be required to wear a cape and costume myself."
  • And: the oath obligates you to report to Confession (below), scheduled with Gloria.

The Restoration Wall.

Every Unkindness confessed at the booth lands here. We don't print who. Confession is anonymous — that's the whole point of confession, as I understand it. We just print what was skipped and what's owed. And here's the part that keeps everyone honest: a Restoration isn't cleared until you call Gloria and confirm it. Until that call, it stays PENDING, right here, where the universe can see it. No pressure.

Confess by email.

Can't make it to the booth? Send your Unkindness — your confession (the Concession, as the booth is officially known) — to ego@aokmankind.com. AOK Man reads each one, assigns your Restoration, and posts it to the Wall — anonymously, of course. Then it sits as PENDING until you confirm it's done with Gloria at keeper@aokworld.net or by phone. She keeps the calendar. She'll know.

Got one to confess? Find the booth, email it, or call it in.
